Mechanical Trial Pitting can be taken to a maximum depth of 4.00m. This technique can be excavated through most materials encountered within the U.K. although, will be limited in rock.

Disturbed samples can be retained for later laboratory testing. In-situ testing can also be undertaken to determine bearing capacity.
