Hand Augured Boreholes up to a maximum depth of 5.00m. Progression of these techniques can be inhibited by granular material. Disturbed and 38mm undisturbed samples can be retained for later laboratory testing with this technique. JCB Trial Pitting up to a maximum depth of 4.00m. This technique can be excavated through most materials encountered within the U.K. except for rock material. Disturbed samples can be retained for later laboratory testing. In-situ testing can also be undertaken to determine bearing capacity. Existing Foundation Exposures are undertaken in order to aid subsidence claims, these can determine the cause of the structural movements within the location upon the property. Samples are taken by hand augured boreholes or by window sampling techniques, and are taken to our laboratory for later testing. The details of the foundations and the subsoil are noted and recorded for later use within a report. Also 38mm undisturbed or disturbed samples can be recovered by this technique. In-situ bearing capacities are also noted at 0.50m intervals throughout the borehole. All excavations internal or external are replaced to the condition found. The completion of works is generally undertaken by a two man crew and completed within a single working day. Shell & Auger Drilling Rig Works Shell & Auger Drilling Rig works are undertaken to determine the ground conditions at depth. This drilling technique can generally penetrate most soils encountered within the U.K. and as such proves very useful for pile design information. Disturbed and 100mm undisturbed samples are retained using this method of drilling for later laboratory use. The access required for this type of drilling is approximately the size of a 4 x 4 vehicle. The Demountable Drilling Rig has the capability of the conventional drilling rig although the parts of the rig are detachable and as such the rig can be taken through doorways to work within limited headroom areas etc. Conventional or Demountable Rig The Conventional or Demountable Rig can also be used in inaccessible locations by the use of scaffolding, winching and cranes, if required. This can achieve information relative to the location of interest and hence design parameters relative to the problem in hand. Upon completion of the site works, any samples retrieved from the site works will be taken to our laboratory where either, we can schedule testing appropriate to the design requirements and subsoil encountered, or the information gained can be forwarded to our clients for there own testing schedules to be implemented in the design process. The laboratory works our company offers are as follows: Atterberg Limits and Moisture Content Tests can be undertaken on samples retained from site works, by ourselves, samples delivered to our offices or by others. Particle Size Distribution tests can be undertaken on granular soils for grading of a granular material. This can be useful in assessing the effects of vegetation on these soils and to determine frost susceptibility. This test can also be used to determine a type I and type II materials for road construction. Triaxial Testing can be undertaken on both 38mm and 100mm diameter samples in order to determine the strength characteristics. In addition to this, California Bearing Ratio Testing can be undertaken for road design. Oedometer Testing can be undertaken on undisturbed samples for settlement and compression characteristics. This can be carried out on samples from 100mm diameter undisturbed samples only.
